If we were a proper journalistic outfit, we’d have pages and pages of E3 content. Who’s gonna say what and what’s gonna do what, videos of the Top Ten most exciting ways to waste your money on newly released DLC for games you’ve already paid for cause no-one can be arsed to actually release anything new….. etc etc etc.
Top Ten most exciting ways to waste your money
Well bollocks to that. I work in the media industry and have done a lot of conferences. If there is one thing I know, it’s that all conferences are fucking boring. Even if the conference is in relation to something you really really care about, the event itself will undoubtably be interminable. This is because these things are always just a collection of industry types positioning themselves for the upcoming financial year.
They purport to show you exciting things, but all the stuff they actually show you is so far in the future as to be irrelevant to the average Joe. Especially when it comes to video games where all the commodities we’re talking about are virtual. There’s nothing to ‘go and see’ with games, if you’re interested in a new tractor then going to the tractor convention makes a lot of sense. With video games, just pop online and look at the bloody pre-release footage.

In short, E3 will most likely be a hellish combination of media spin, corporate bullshit and terrible LA food. Plus, you can’t walk anywhere cause LA is dogshit.
and….. We’re done.
